Discovery Education Web Store

Resolution designed, developed and implemented the Discovery Education Store, an e-commerce solution that seamlessly integrates into the DiscoveryEducation.com content site and provides educators and educational wholesalers a state-of-the-art and uncomplicated process for placing orders.

The initial challenge of this project was catering to a customer base that was more familiar with offline ordering.  Addressing this challenge, Resolution implemented custom “Wish list” and “PO Builder” functions to better serve educators: enabling them to use their established processes for ordering via print and fax PO, while encouraging them to use the available shopping cart and online ordering process. 

For the store, Resolution developed a rich and logical categorization and navigation structure as well as enhanced product pages, including online video previews for selected DVDS.

In addition, Resolution provided Discovery Education content experts with access to our advanced and highly intuitive administration platform to perform automated product management functions.

Discovery Education takes significant advantage of Resolution's Media On Demand manufacturing services.  Resolution currently produces more than 3,000 different Discovery Education titles in it's manufacturing facility as they are ordered, typically shipping those products the same day the orders are placed.  This provides many benefits.  It completely eliminates the need to forecast, purchase and manage inventory for those titles and it also reduces operating costs by eliminating any charges for receiving and material storage.
